Last week, I just knew something was up… first there were those photos on Dad’s iBone. Then this super large pink enclosure appeared in the kitchen, with all these new “baby toys” and a baby bed in it.
Luckily, my cousins Romeo, Dexter, and Fritz (@AvalonChihuahuas) came to visit Friday and Saturday and we had a blast chasing squirrels in the backyard—for a little guy, that Fritz sure can jump high. Straight up in the air—thought he was going to go right over our eight foot fence! So I forgot about that pink thing in the kitchen. All dudes in my house, and as you know Dudes Don’t Do Pink.
Then came Sunday. Went for a ride in the car. Love to go in cars, ’cause most times I end up someplace cool like the park or the beach. Sunday we visited the lady who grooms me and always has bunches of fun Westies who play with me. I like going there. Don’t even mind the b-a-t-h.
This time, something was off. I did not go behind the gate to the back where the puppies and visiting dogs hang out. Mom was busy talking and filling out some papers, so Dad and I watched some little Westie pups play in the courtyard. They were pretty cool dudes.
Then, Mom comes out carrying one of the puppies. She was kinda cute—for a girl pup. My ears perked up when I saw the puppy coming with us to the car. Was she coming to visit cousins Romeo, Dexter, and Fritz?
Well, surprise on this dude! When we got home, my buds had already headed to their house. It was just me…and this new little girl pup. Suddenly the pink thing in the kitchen made sense. The pup was coming to stay. Share my home with a girl?
Nothing good can come from this situation. Believe me.
Her name in Mackenzie and already she thinks I’m her mother. Follows me everywhere. Tries to cuddle. In general, a regular Pesty Westie.
Lobbied to change her name to Danica. Now, that’s non-girly. Green firesuit even better! And an appearance on a GoDaddy commercial. Now that has possibilities. So far, no traction on that suggestion. But, you know stubborn is this Westie’s middle name.
Something’s Up. Not liking what I found on Dad’s iBone.
Update: October 4, 2012…. Fuglies begin popping up earlier this year. This will prove #BarkBusters toughest, most demanding year yet. Join us… contact Chief Meteorologist and Dispatcher @NoCryBabyDogs to report danger and/or request assistance. On call 24/7/365
It was a dark and stormy night…make that a dark, cold, and stormy night in November 2009. Zorro, the Giant Schnauzer known to all as @IamZorro on Twitter, was performing a routine security check of the perimeter of his backyard. Out of the corner of his eyes, he caught sight of unusual activity in his neighbor’s front yard. This “thing” glowed and swayed with the wind. This could not be good.
So, Big Z did what all superior security guards would: He barked. He howled. He lunged at the fence separating him from this intruder. He made so much noise, his people made him come inside. But still, the intruder glowed and mocked him through the window. All night long. By morning, the glow was gone. The next night, the thing was back.
Realizing he needed back-up, Z consulted with Twitter pals, Bosco (@BigBoyBosco), Tiger (@TigerthePup)…

…Right now there’s a really, really good reason. Most of my pals on Twitter know that I’m allergic to pink. You’ll never, ever catch me in pink. Not for #PinkPups events—I secure the premises, but no dollies and tea or Hello Kitty stuff for me. I even “grrrr” when I see that girly stuff.
Like to wear dude clothes. My Dale Jr fire suit is my favorite outfit, though he better ditch the new beard and I’ll ditch the fire suit to change his luck going over to ‘Dega next weekend. Think I’ll put my sekurity jacket on for a while.
Recently learned that our dear pals @MissBusyBiz and @Kirbee_Dude are facing really tough times. They help their mum care for their Dad, a war veteran who has a problem that makes his memory forget stuff like walking and doing the things he used to do. It’s called Alzheimer’s… but, the important thing is that Missy, Kirbee, and Mum (you probably know Miss Francy through Missy or @seniorcaretips, her Blog) are in a pickle and really need the help and support of the anipal community.
When their Dad stopped working, Missy’s mum stayed home to care for him. He cannot stay alone, even with Missy and Kirbee helping out. And you know how bad the economy is… why we have pitched in and helped so many the past few years.
Well, Missy’s family recently received some really tough news. They are losing their house and have to move. They don’t have the money needed for such a huge change, and friends are trying to help them get packed and settled in a new home soon.
The @ShibberingCheetos have set up a #PinkPawty page, and @PepiSmartDog and @RagabashGirl’s mom have explained the situation much better than I can—please read all three links. You know, we anipals just cannot allow Missy’s family to face this alone.
A lot of anipals are working hard on a pawty to show support—and help raise some money—for Missy’s Family. The #PinkPawty—yeah, I know, I didn’t pick the name—is Wednesday, October 3 from 5:00-9:00 p.m. EDT. Here is your personal invitation to join us and bring plenty of friends. The hashtag will be #PinkPawty. Let’s rock the Twitterverse and trend #PinkPawty worldwide! My pals @BigBoyBosco and @IAmZorro just might knock on your door if you’re not there. They’re good at “convincing.”
A chipin has been set up for anyone who can help. No amount is too small—or too big!—and all gifts are welcomed.
If you don’t have money to spare, don’t worry, pawcircle prayers help so much. We’ve all seen the power of the #pawcircle. Let’s join paws and deliver another miracle.
Please help spread the word and make this pawty huge! You’ll see lots of tweets the next couple days. Please RT and make sure your FB pals know also.
*whispers* I have a surprise just to cheer Missy up. Please keep it a secret. Here’s a preview of my party duds. It’s really itching me like crazy, but hey, Kyle Busch wore this and drove a Pink Kitten and Puppy and Baby Seal car in a NASCAR race. Seriously, if Rowdy could handle it, so can I. See you at the PinkPawty Wednesday!
BaconBeers will be my treat! Note to self—Order lots of @HanksBaconBeer!
Finally. After two fruitless tries. I am FINALLY going to get to Barkworld 2012. There’s no real good excuse why I haven’t attended the first two. I mean, hey, it’s right in my backyard, correct? So what if my peeps had other plans—like a New England cruise (and it was foggy every day, BOL!) first year, and my Big Boy getting married LAST year. What kind of excuses are those? Pitiful, really. I mean, seriously lacking.
But 2012 is my year, and I hope I get to meet all my anipals and give a welcoming WestieWave to all! Are you coming to Barkworld? Let me know below, and let’s plan a rockin’ good time!
